I'm having trouble with CSS on an upgrade from 5.0 to 5.1b on our
FreeBSD 5.3 development server. After installing 5.1b and removing all
of my old customized templates, the layout and colors were all
completely un-stylized, suggesting that the stylesheet was not getting
loaded at all. There were no css_path or css_url parameters in the
sympa.conf/wwsympa.conf files, but from what I can see, those should not
have been necessary (and in any case, the installer did not create them
even when I deleted my old configuration files and re-installed.)

I thought I would try with a static stylesheet, and I eventually figured
out what the (very confusing) instructions were telling me and got a
directory set up and writeable by Sympa, and I set the css_path
parameter. I then tried the "install static CSS" button from the new
admin pages. It created a zero-length file named style.css.1119304163
in the right directory, and then gave the error "Can't
open /usr/local/www/data/npogroups/style.css.1119304163". Still no
style.

I then found ~sympa/bin/etc/web_tt2/css.tt2, copied it manually to this
directory, edited it to remove the TT2 commands, and now it loads
properly and the interface is partly stylized. The formatting is fine,
but the colors are still all missing -- the entire page is white except
for the black text. The color table on the CSS admin page shows many
non-white colors; for instance, colors 0-4 are different shades of gray,
colors 6, 8, 9, 11 are different shades of blue, etc. Why do they not
show up in the layout?

Maybe this is the kind of stuff that just doesn't get worked out in the
beta version.
