I am with Ian on this one.

I moved away from building applications from source quite a few years ago.  I admit to having been caught out with issues in packages but on the whole, I am supporting 30+ Linux platforms on a very part-time basis and I have only been able to do so by using packages.

Several of the issues I have had have been with Sympa packages but ‘dnf downgrade’ has been my saviour in those situations.

I am quite comfortable with configuring the various systems to work together sympa, postfix, postgresql etc.  What I like to see are Change logs that warn of changes that are likely to bite me, preferably external to the package so I am forewarned.
