Hargitai G?bor <address@concealed> recently posted:

We have 603 lists, 12511 users, and 28281 subscriptions.

Those figures are pretty close to what we have on our
(non-sympa) list server.

Number of lists: 743
Total number of subscribers: 36,934
Total subscriptions: 82,787

But then you write:

In April I made a measurement, in a week the machine received
154 971 mail, and sent out 1 117 082.

Your server received 150K messages and sent out 1 million
postings within 7 days? Wow, that is surprisingly high
compared to our site (a small public University). We get
about 60K messages and send out 18 million postings in a
*YEAR*. So far this year we've done:

------------ ------------
Messages Messages
Received Sent
------------ ------------
2005 (YTD)
Total: 52,581 16,200,474
Daily Max: 461 265,352
Daily Avg: 201 62,071
------------ ------------

You must have quite a few very high traffic lists.

I found your posting particularly interesting because I am
also trying to determine the resources we will need to move
from ListProc (a comparatively light-weight C application)
to Sympa.
