Tested in our 6.2.2 instance and here as well:

"Changing your email address is an important operation. Therefore, we
need to verify that it is really your email address.
To verify the email address, we have sent a message to:
address@concealed with a confirmation ticket.
You should check your mailbox now."


It's a bummer this can't be done in the web interface by listmasters.
Now it requires shell/SQL/etc access, and our admins are already overloaded...
