What do you call reject ?

Rejecting is when, during the original SMTP conversation with the sending domain's MTA, you do not accept the mail if the list, -owner address, -subscribe address, etc. does not exist.

Bouncing is when you accept the message into your queue, then subsequently send a DSN when you try to process it in your queue and can't deliver it.

Rejection is better than bouncing because it is not prone to produce backscatter -- where the message itself has a forged sender address, so you spam the alleged sender when you send the DSN.
