David,

What would be nice would be a "switch" in the config file where
the SUBSCIPTION is WITH or WITHOUT name.

Then according to that setting if someone wants to subscribe
a tect filed with name is (or is not) displayed.

I can do this (aka code), but I need to see whether I have the time
and I need to find out where I need to do this and whats involved.

I understand that for a LOT of lists this would not be required,
but for smaller lists (especially in business) it is a good thing
to have.
