I had the same problem, but I think (it's been a while since I did it)
creating these symbolic links solved this problem:

/etc/perl/MHonArc -> /usr/share/mhonarc/MHonArc
/etc/perl/mhamain.pl -> /usr/share/mhonarc/mhamain.pl
/etc/perl/osinit.pl -> /usr/share/mhonarc/osinit.pl

BTW: I'm also running Sympa on Debian Sarge for a while. Works for me,
with 6 robots and 176 lists. Installed from source. Postfix and postgresql.
