I can understand that, I guess, but it's really, really helpful to be 
able to test how sympa is working by having it send mail, and sending 
mail to test lists to make sure it works. Sympa is a very complex 
beast, but you won't be totally shaking your installation out unless 
you can actually test the mail functionality, IMHO.

Also - you might have added the list master to the configs - but make 
sure that you restart sympa after changes to your configurations.
