The mailing list for listmasters using Sympa

Hi everyone,

after upgrading Sympa from 6.2.42 to 6.2.44 the aliases for the new list are not inserted int the alias file. And as a consequence, messages to the list are rejected.

The log file contains this related message:

wwsympa[30846]: err main::#1544 > main::do_move_list#11001 > Sympa::Spindle::spin#95 > Sympa::Request::Handler::move_list::_twist#150 > Sympa::Aliases::Template::add#106 Can't lock /etc/mail/aliases.sympa

Running  the alias script manually as

/usr/local/sympa/bin/alias_manager.pl "add" 000-testlist-7 lists.uni-mainz.de

works as root, but fails silently as user sympa. 

The file rights were not changed recently:

ls -l aliases.sympa*

-rw-r--r-- 1 sympa sympa 1007680 Aug  7 13:17 aliases.sympa
-rw-r----- 1 smmta smmsp 1314816 Aug  7 13:17 aliases.sympa.db

Changing the property of alias_manager in sympa.conf from

/usr/local/sympa/bin/alias_manager.pl

to

/usr/local/sympa/bin/sympa_newaliases-wrapper

and restarting Sympa did not solve the issue.

I assume that the user sympa has insufficient rights to update the aliases but I can not find any information about it in the documentation of Sympa or ijn the archive of this list and would be very grateful for any hint and any help.

PS: The OS of the Sympa server is Debian 9, MTA is sendmail
