Dear all,

Wow, it's incredible how fast a year can fly...

Well, I'm back in RENATER to work on Sympa. This was sure an eventful year for our beloved mailing list software and I expect the next year to be even more interesting.

Shortly put: I'll be working on the Sympa software 4 days a week. RENATER also hired Marc Chantreux, the guy behind the 20th anniversary hackathon and, more generally, whose foolish actions led to the great community uprising that changed Sympa forever this year. He will be working full time on free software and of course on Sympa starting, well, soon, there are still paperworks to be signed.

A natural question would be: now who's in charge? Well, not me, not RENATER, but the community.

With Soji handling the release on the 6.2 branch, Racke working on the backend, Sandhose on the frontend, Marc and I on everything we can and all the developers who came to the hackathon in last April (Skiverth and al, I'm looking in your direction), this is definitely a too-many-heads-to-count beast that was born last year.

RENATER invests almost two full-times on the project, so it will have a say in what happens, but it is no longer the "enlightened dictator" it was before, merely a part of the team.

Our first moves will be to help clarify the communication channels for the Sympa project, provide an infrastructure - when necessary - to the community and promote Sympa in several events.

We have many more projects but let's do things step by step.

It's good to be back.

Regards,

David
