  • Subject: [sympa-users] Sympa Moderation time-stamp Problem

Hi, I am have a problem with Sympa time-stamping of messages sent for
moderation.

The problem is that messages submitted to a Sympa list are time-stamped when
they are received by the Sympa. Upon moderation they then appear in a
recipients inbox at the time the message was submitted, rather then the time
it was actually sent. The result of this is that some messages that are not
approved on the same day as they are submitted the email will sit way down a
persons inbox.

Due to the way we use Sympa at Massey University in New Zealand we need a
workflow that allows staff to submit and other staff to approve. This workflow
cannot happen all at the same time and in some cases days will pass before
moderation can happen. This causes the resulting email to appear way down a
persons inbox and can be missed altogether and the user may notice the unread
email much later and feel that they have been remiss in not reading the email
in a timely manner.

There does not appear to be a good reason to time-stamp messages at the
submission time as the time-stamp is supposed to represent the time/date the
message was sent. This should be the actual time it is approved and physically
sent to the email server.

Can Sympa be configured to not time-stamp messages or only time-stamp them
once approved?
