Hi Christian, Le 27/05/2010 16:31, Christian Dahlhausen a écrit : Hi, we have about 15000 mailing lists and are close to golive with Sympa. I got two questions regarding this feature. Which feature? The binary config files? I'll suppose in my answer that this is what you're talking about. Can I turn this feature on without interrupting the service, or just restarting the Sympa process? To turn this feature on, you need to restart Sympa, as it is a sympa.conf parameter and there is no hot reload of the config in Sympa. Will there be a text flat file (or old flat file backups) of the config files to see what changes happened to the list configuration? Yes. The bin config files are just binary cache of what is written in the lists config. the flat text files remain the origin of the configuration. If Sympa sees that they changed, the bin config are updated. Regards, David Thanks, Christian 2009/10/21 David Verdin <address@concealed>
Hi, When displaying the list of list, sympa must evaluate the visibility scenario for each list, to know if the person asking to view the list is allowed to do so. The implies to read each lists' config and evaluate their scenario. reading the config file is the toughest job. If you have a lot of lists, you shoul use the config.bin files; they are cache binary version of config files. Reading them don't need parsing or analysis on the Sympa part. It greatly improves the performances. Please read the documentation part regarding config.bin files: https://www.sympa.org/manual/conf-parameters/part3#cache_list_config And the FAQ addressing performance issues in Sympa : https://www.sympa.org/faq/performances Regards, David Umut Arus a écrit : Hi, I have used sympa 5.4.2 and created about 400 lists. There is a slowness when clicking on topics (categories). It waits while listing the email lists on page. The server is idle and no performance problem. However, there is no slowness on the sympa home page. What may be the source of problem? thanks in advance, David Verdin Comité réseau des universités -- ----------------------------------------------------------- Christian Dahlhausen, Network Systems Engineer University of Virginia - ITC Network Systems PO Box 400324, 2015 Ivy Road, Charlottesville, VA 22904 --
David Verdin Comité réseau des universités Due to the limitations of human brain, I fail to remember all the mails. So if you want your bug reports or feature requests for Sympa to be processed, please post them to the Sympa tracker |
