Hi!

Paul Borghese a écrit :
Ok I think I figured it out. The minimum_bouncing_period can be described
as follows:

"Collect all the bounced over the bouncing_period (i.e. 10 days) then
evaluate a score"

So if it is under 10 days ... no score.

Is that correct?
Correct! :)
In my sympa.conf, there is no minimum_bouncing_period defined. Can I simply
define it in the sympa.conf?

Yes.
Once I go under sympa.conf and redefine the bouncing period, can I then
force the scoring of the bounces to occur immediately?
Well this score is evaluated when the eval_bouncers task is executed. So you must either wait its next occurrence or delete the task file so that is is recreated (next minute at the latest) and then executed.
Thanks again for your help!
You're welcome. :)

Keep in mind that the bouncing period is important.
If the user bounces for a shorter period (in days) than the value of the minimum_bouncing_period parameter, then the score won't be evaluated. The default vlaue for this parameter is 10.
As you user seems to be bouncing for only four days, it seems normal, provided you didn't change this parameter value, that its score hasn't been calculated yet.

Cheers,

Thanks David for the reply.

For example, here is a user that has a bounce count of 0:

Status : Bad destination mailbox address (5.1.1)
Bounce count : 222
Period : from 03 Mar 2008 to 06 Mar 2008

Because the status is bad destination mailbox address, should not the
bounce
score jump to 100 and cause the recipient to be immediately removed?

I added an address in a test list where the domain did not exist. Yet the
bounce score is still zero after a few days?

By the way, where is the bounce count stored? I could not find it in the
mysql database?

Thanks again for your help!

Paul

Yes, that's due to the bounce score computing method.
You will have all the details here :
https://www.sympa.org/manual/bounces#bounce_management

Roughly, the bounce score stays to zero untils the bouncer reaches (and keeps) a reasonnable number of bounces when compared to the list's traffic and your own settings.
This "zero" values confuses a lot of people, and we are considering to change it to a message like "bounces activity not relevant yet".

Any ideas as to why the bounce score on my bouncing users is always zero.
Even after a few hundred bounces?
