Hello List,

 

We would like to ask if a notification message for users could be worded more user-friendly.

 

Specifically, we are referring to the text that appears during the registration confirmation process: "Do you really want to perform this action?" / Möchten Sie diese Aktion wirklich ausführen?

 

 

The text comes across as a bit menacing. After all, you just want to subscribe to a newsletter.

 

The text is certainly used in many places within Sympa, and if we change it, it will no longer fit in other places. We would prefer not to make any changes to the code in our installed version of Sympa, which we would then have to implement with every update, and it's probably simply impossible to update the translations with every update.

 

We would also like to translate this notification message into other languages ​​such as Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese and others. Our subscribers are spread all over the world. Therefore, it's not an option to, for example, permanently insert a suitable German text into the template instead of the text bundle entry.

 

A more suitable text would be, for example: „Please confirm your subscription to the newsletter“

 

In case of using double-opt-in it would be great to change the following message:

The point regarding user feedback is not entirely accurate in the case of double opt-in, because the user must first confirm their email address.

To – for example: To ensure that we send your emails to the right address, please confirm your email address via the email we sent you.

 

Do you see a possibility to enhance this?

I am aware that these messages are reused across multiple areas and that any change may have broader implications and require additional effort. However, after reviewing the current behavior, I believe that clearer user-facing feedback would be a meaningful usability improvement, and I would like to propose this for discussion.
