Enterprise Gmail will deliver the duplicate emails but usually only shows one of them, based on duplicate Message-ID fields I believe.

Thanks,
Matt

Not an implementable solution, but if your subscribers are using M365/Exchange for email we find that Microsoft “sees” the duplicate messages and only delivers one of them. Which is confusing to list owners who subscribe themselves to the multiple lists and then think the post didn’t go to all of them because they themselves didn’t receive a copy from each list.

I don’t know if enterprise Gmail does this.

Hey Josh,

I don't know of a better solution, maybe someone else will post one.

Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt -

I appreciate the quick reply.  We're looking to migrate from our home-grown system to Sympa, but we have something like 25,000 programmatically generated lists (Higher Education -- Majors, Minors, Concentrations, Course Sections, etc) over. I was hoping we missed something in the documentation. If not, we may have to stay with home-grown system.

You could make lists which include membership of the other lists

ie...

address@concealed : includes the membership of lists x and y

address@concealed : includes the membership of lists x and y and z

not going to scale very well with more than three lists, and you have to remember to send to the aggregate lists

Thanks,
Matt

Take the following scenario:

User A is a member of the following Sympa Mailing Lists:

If an email is sent (To: or Cc: field) to address@concealed,

address@concealed, and

address@concealed, how can User A only receive one single message instead of three?

I found a very old posting here (https://listes.renater.fr/sympa/arc/sympa-users/2007-04/msg00039.html) with a similar scenario but no resolution and I am unable to find anything in the documentation for how to implement this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
