Yes, it can work!
If you run the upgrade while specifying the versions, it will perform the task.
I would recommend running : sympa.pl --upgrade --from 6.2.32 --to 6.2.40.
And your config files should be parsed for their admins.

Now, if you have a post-6.2.34 version, then Sympa no longer uses the owners
and editors in the config files. You need to run an upgrade to move these
data to the database. (sympa.pl --upgrade --from 6.xxx --to 6.yyy)

And since this is a 6.2.40 recovery, the "sympa --upgrade" doesn't work
