/var/log/sympa.log has:

Mar 6 08:40:07 cuelists sympa[19933]: notice main::DoFile() Processing /var/spool/sympa/msg/sympa.1331041203.3371 ; sender: John Dalbec <address@concealed> ; message-id: <address@concealed>

Why doesn't it parse QUIET DISTRIBUTE correctly? Does the message have to come from sympa-request?
Thanks,
John

That was apparently part of the moderation process. The messages did not
appear in the archive. The list aliases are set up; however, I had
removed the default "sympa" alias so the QUIET DISTRIBUTE commands were
not processed? I recreated that alias according to your instructions,
but if I try resending the message I get:
List '' does not exist.
I tried sending the message to the -request alias but that just
forwarded it to the list owner. How can I get the messages moderated?
Thanks,
John

I already did that. The message files were renamed to have a
".distribute" suffix and archive directories were created, all in the
moderation directory. But the messages were never sent.

Did you do that manually or was that part of the moderation process?

If I understand you correctly you have a list that has only digest
subscribers
that is also completely moderated. If you have approved messages you
might
check to see if they appear in the archive for the list, if not
they've not
been distributed. Try sibscribing yourself as a regular (non-digest)
recipient of the list and see if that helps - you should see each
message as
it's approved.

After moderation a message was sent to address@concealed containing
QUIET DISTRIBUTE commands. However, I had redirected the "sympa" alias
to root. Where should "sympa" go?

The email alias for sympa should be something like:

sympa: "|/usr/lib/sympa/bin/queue sympa"

Lists need to be aliased:

test-list: "| /usr/lib/sympa/lib/sympa/queue
address@concealed"

On my system those are among others in /etc/aliases. After changing
aliases
you might need to execute the "newaliases" command.

(Please excuse my typing, my system seems to want to reset my keyboard
randomly and characters get dropped.)
