The mailing list for listmasters using Sympa

I installed on linode .com without issue.  I even have shared hosting 
running on the box for my hosting needs.   If your buying spce in a shared 
host, it is unlikely that you will have the access necessary to install.

You can try a VPS, that should reduce your cost and give you a complete
standalone virtual server with root access.
