Thanks – the third FAQ entry was the solution - it was a permissions thing. I must have mucked up the permissions on the sympa home directory at some stage. Set them to what was required and it looks like it’s all go.

Here is a list of things you should check :
http://www.sympa.org/fom?_highlightWords=smrsh&file=9

I don't know if smrsh is also used by postfix...

I’m at a bit of a loss where to start with this one. I thought my sympa installation was working ok until I tried approving messages to a moderated list, and got undeliverable bounce messages for the emails sent to the sympa alias. It looks like sympa cannot process commands sent to sympa@<domain>.

Aug  2 21:33:20 it016811 local[7581]: fatal: execvp /home/sympa/bin/queue: Permission denied
Aug  2 21:33:21 it016811 postfix/local[7580]: 188A81836F: to=<sympa@<domain>>, relay=local, delay=1, status=bounced (Command died with status 1: "/home/sympa/bin/queue sympa@<domain>")

No errors relating to this are logged in the sympa log – so it looks more like a postfix permissions problem? I’m reasonably sure I haven’t changed any permissions on the sympa folders, what other folders would be involved that could cause this problem?

Permissions on /home/sympa/bin/queue:

-rwsr-xr-x 1 sympa sympa  12097 Jul 27 01:58 queue
