The 5.1.2 release does not have an updated es.po catalog ; therefore 
Spanish is not listed in the default 'supported_lang' sympa.conf 
parameter. It has been completed in 5.2.

In the meanwhile you can have a try with the incomplete es.po catalog by 
adding "es" to the 'supported_lang' parameter in your sympa.conf.
