Hi all,

Not having made any adjustments to the languages and localisation of our
sympa server before, a user has asked me today to set up a list in
Spanish. I thought Spanish was a default language for sympa, but it
doesn't show up in the available languages for the user preferences on
my server's web interface.

I'm using sympa 5.1.2 on a debian server.

I've run dpkg-reconfigure for the locales and added es_ES which now
appears correctly in /etc/locale.gen

However, it still doesn't show up in sympa. When logged in and looking
at my user preferences I can access the following languages: Deutsch,
Greek Modern, English, Francais, Magyar, Italiano, Japanese, Nederlands,
occitan, Portuguese, Swedish and Turkish. There is also a blank line in
between English and Francais, which is identified in the code as being
for et_EE - whatever that is. Anyone know why that isn't showing up with
a language name in the list?

In sympa's locale directory there is an 'es' directory with a sympa.mo
file in it. So why isn't it being offered in the list of languages on
the server?

I've tried downloading from CVS the latest es.po file, and re-compiling
that within sympa's source directory. That fails, too, with the error:

msgfmt -o es.mp es.po
msgfmt: error while loading shared libraries: libgettextsrc-0.14.4.so:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Debian says gettext is latest version, 0.14.4.

How can I get sympa working in Spanish? I've run beyond my competence
here.

Thanks,

Nick
