- Subject: [sympa-users] is suidperl really required?

I'm trying to put together a package installer for sympa for Mac OS X, and in the course of re-installing, I've noticed I had this error:
##################################
## You don't have suidperl installed.
## Suidperl is required to run WWSympa with SetUID.
#####################################################
From browsing around, this kind of line seems to be what the Perl people say about suidperl at the moment...
--------from Perl Changes 5.8---------
Note that the security scare is only relevant for those who arefoolish enough to build suidperl (which is now officially discouraged)
--------------------------------------
Is it really required? Apple aren't distributing perl with suidperl, and it seems like other vendors are stopping it too.
