So I decided to try sympa and I like it! I used the sympa package on  debian... it was almost, but not quite perfect install.

If you have more precise information, it can help us make the install process easier...

Sorry I wasn't making notes.

I remember when I first tried to create a list on a virtual robot using the web interface it complained that the list didn't exist right away. I think that I went into /var/lib/sympa/expl and found some kind of permissions or ownership problem or something. Or maybe it hadn't created a directory for my virtual robot.

Also on debian, a lot of the directories are in different places. I think this is because dpkgs have a different directory naming policy. But it confused me a bit at first.

I think that I felt that the virtual robot configuration docs weren't as easy as it could have been because I'm using postfix. Exim is the default on debian but a lot of people switch to postfix. Well, now I have in my main.cf

### Virtual configuration
virtual_alias_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/virtual, regexp:/etc/postfix/virtual_regexp
virtual_alias_domains = hash:/etc/postfix/virtual_domains

I think that the first explanation of using regexp didn't say that I had to make the first reference start with "regexp:"

Also sympa  5.1 is that it looks more and more like have the good BB features.  Being able to view a whole thread at once (full text) would be nice.

We were never requested this feature before ; please fill out this form : http://listes.cru.fr/mantis

OK, I did: http://listes.cru.fr/mantis/view_bug_page.php?f_id=459

I really want to upgrade to Sympa 5.1 but I prefer to use debian  packages. When will it be available for debian?

Stephan Hornburg, the Debian packager for Sympa, told me last week that he wishes to work on 5.1 package. I don't know when it will be released...

Hopefully soon :-)

Because of the directories being in all different places, I'm a little scared to do a manual install now.
