I followed the installation guidelines on the website and now having trouble getting Sympa to run. First of all, the "--chuid" option isn't being recognized at Sympa startup. If I remove this option, it seems to start OK. The boilerplate /etc/init.d/sympa at http://www.open-organizations.org/twiki/pub/Socialtools/StandardSympa/sympa specifies this option, which Sympa itself refuses. So right now I'm starting it as root without --chuid option.
The --chuid option is not a standard Sympa startup option. If you wish to make sympa run with a different UID you should set it at the ./configure or make time the following way :
./configure --with-user=sympa --with-group=sympa ; make ; make install
Another complication is that I do not want to create a virtual host, rather run Sympa interface as the main Apache instance. Right now Apache is configured to invoke wwsympa.fcgi from http://<hostname>/wws

When Sympa starts up, I immediately start seeing the following in /var/log/httpd/error_log:

[Fri Jul 30 14:02:56 2004] [warn] FastCGI: server "/home/sympa/bin/wwsympa.fcgi" started (pid 30483)
Can't do setuid

This problem is mentionned in the FAQ : http://www.sympa.org/fom-serve/cache/207.html
