Privileges on a document also depend on what privileges are set on higher level directories of the shared.
Sympa applies a logicial AND to all tokens of a shared path. It means that if you don't have access to A/B, then you don't have access to A/B/C, whatever privileges are set on C. (Actually that behavior might change in the future to make the shared more useable...)

To achieve your goal, you should set "who can edit" to "subscribers".
Each newly created file will inherit from the privileges of the container directory (ie "subscribers"). But the document author has the "access" privilege and can therefore restrict "who can edit" to "list owner and document authors".

Thanks! That works.

It leads to a question though: What does it mean to set edit to "list owner and document authors?" That choice seems to behave the same as "list owner only."
