auth.conf is used to configure authentication on the web interface.

Sending mail to a mailing list is entierely different, and is not governed by 
auth.conf, but by the mailing list configuration.
On a subscriber only mailing list, someone subscribed as address@concealed 
will be allowed to post with this address, and only this address. Even if 
address@concealed is an alias to address@concealed.
