Greetings Robert - First you need to install a plugin to enable allow/safe lists, https://github.com/sshipway/sympa-6.2-plugins/tree/master/whitelist-1.2.  Afterward, the web UI will provide a ‘Sender Lists’ menu which contains allow, mod and block.

When you add an email address (one per line) via the web UI, Sympa will create a file in:  ~/list_data/robot.domain/list.name/search_filters/whitelist.txt.   With your migration, you can prepopulate this file with your legacy addresses.

I believe the Sympa Dev Team plans to include this plugin in a future version of Sympa 6.2.   I edited Steve’s code and switched the references to whitelist to allowlist for our implementation of the plugin.

Hope this helps,

Subject: [sympa-users] Migrating Lists from Mailman to Sympa

Hello,

I’new in Sympa and have a question about migrating mailing lists from Mailman to Sympa.

In Mailman I have moderated lists with

* the recipient addresse

* the allowed sender addresses and a

* defined admin who is approving the mails for dispatching

If I add a list in Sympa which is moderated, I would put

* the recipient addresses as the listmembers/subscribers

* the defined admin who is approving the mail as the listmaster

But the question is where do I put the allowed sender addresses in? If I put them to the editor/moderators, they can approve their own mails, which I want to avoid.

Is there a solution in Sympa for that use case?

Thank in advance!

Robert Galanty
