I opened a ticket a couple of weeks back:

and have a proof of concept as a LCA plugin script. (This does involve a 
one line hack to wwsympa.pl to expose $main::query to the LCA script)

Hopefully a couple of different people saying "wouldn't this be nice" 
will encourge something to get merged eventually.
