Hi all,

 

we updated our KIT mailinglist-server from Sympa 6.1.23 to Sympa 6.2.16 and have the following problems since the update:

 

When a user uploads a file to our mailinglist-server the URL encoding seems not to be removed.

We have observed the problem in the following two situations:

 

A user uploads a file with a space in the name of the file. When the user tries to download this file Sympa is searching for the URL https://www.lists.kit.edu/sympa/d_read/sabinetest3-l/KIT%2520Test1%2520Test2.pdf .

The Sympa-error message is „ERROR (d_read) - KIT%20Test1%20Test2.pdf: No such file or directory“ when downloading the file «KIT Test Test2.pdf».

But when I type the following URL manually I am able to download the file: https://www.lists.kit.edu/sympa/d_read/sabinetest3-l/KIT%20Test1%20Test2.pdf

 

The following problem also occurs:

 

The user creates 2 directories one below the other and uploads a file in the lower directory. When the user tries to download this file Sympa is searching for the URL https://www.lists.kit.edu/sympa/d_read/sabinetest3-l/Folder1%2FFolder2/KIT_Test1_Test2.pdf . The Apache-error message is „ Not Found The requested URL /sympa/d_read/sabinetest3-l/Folder1/Folder2/KIT_Test1_Test2.pdf was not found on this server.“

When I type the following URL manually I am able to download the file: https://www.lists.kit.edu/sympa/d_read/sabinetest3-l/Folder1/Folder2/KIT_Test1_Test2.pdf

 

Before the update to 6.2.16 we didn’t have these problems.

The problem does also does not occur if I test this on the DFN mailing list server, which we also maintain and on which we still have version 6.1.23.

 

Does anyone have an idea why this problems occor?

Is it a (known) bug in Sympa software?

Or could it also be a problem in our configuration?

Please check recent version of Sympa 6.2.x.

Release note says (in the section of 6.2.17b.1):

• [12867] When reading the shared documents, file names were not converted from the URL form to the local storage form, leading to errors when downloading files containing spaces or special characters.

BTW, I feel suspicious that not a few administrators recently tried to upgrade Sympa to 6.2.x chose version 6.2.16.  Do you know why they don’t choose recent version (for example, currently most recent stable version is 6.2.32).
