A week ago, I upgraded my Sympa deployment using the sympa-ja.org Fedora package.  I was more than a little surprised that going from 6.2.16-1.20170331 to 6.2.17b.1-1.20170529 broke things badly.

I have pretty heavily customised my tt2 templates.  I expect issues when there is a major version i.e. going from 6.2 to 6.3 but I didn’t expect the kind of issues experienced with what I believe should be a minor version i.e. 6.3.16 to 6.2.17

I appreciate that the 17 was suffixed with a ‘b’ probably meaning Beta, but that version is in what I believe is a stable repository.

There seem to be some pretty major changes in the templating system. Variables that were previously available are no longer present and appear to have been replaced by objects.

I had to back out as I hadn’t bargained on needing to update all my templates.

I just want to highlight what my expectations were based on the version numbering and provide a heads up for any other organisation that has customised sympa in a similar manner.

Glen.
