We have a lot more lists (16000) and had to disable list of lists in our old 5.3.4 installation. There is however a hack that provides significant performance improvements. Check out https://labs.riseup.net/code/projects/sympa/repository I had it running on a 6.0.4 test machine with no problems and now installing it on a 6.1.7 version that will go in production by the end of May.

Hi,

I have a Sunfire X4150 running Solaris 10 5/08 with Sympa-6.0, mysql-5.1.4 and httpd-2.0.63 installed.

Currently there are 921 lists and when I click on "List of lists" it takes on average about 27 seconds for the lists to come up on the web page.

I've had a quick look at what's happening in the background and it seems to be doing about 7 mysql queries on each list and at the same time it goes into each directory under /home/sympa/list_data to do some locking and unlocking.

I have just over 2000 majordomo lists to migrate over to sympa and I'm concerned that the more lists I add, the longer it will take to run "List of lists" etc. Does anyone have any suggestions on what tweaks I can make to make things run faster? Maybe I could add more indexes to the mysql table(s) or put /home/sympa/list_data on a tmpfs file system or could be a step I missed whilst building sympa.

Regards
Gordon
