thanks. I had a script go through all the lists and run a sync.
also, we refreshed some data in ldap to make sure users had the attribute we were looking for.

I could be wrong, but I think that it pulls from LDAP when there is an action that requires a subscribers list, in particular, when a mail is sent. Also, you can sync from a data source by hand from the wwsympa interface, if you want.
