Hi everyone,

I sent this back on December 1 and there wasn’t any input from the group. Before I go back to my boss, I just wanted to check one more time. Is there any way to customize bounce management on a per-list basis or am I stuck here?

Thanks!

Pat

Subject: [sympa-users] Question regarding bounce management

Hi everyone,

I’ve been tasked by my supervisor to see if there is a way that we can customize Sympa (6.1.3) with regards to bounce management.  The problem is that some of our lists are used once or twice a month to send out regular newsletters. The majority of them are your typical email discussion lists which are used on a much more frequent basis.

The problem is that, using the default expire_bounce task, any bounces are forgotten after 10 days. So those lists which are used once or twice a month never have their bad members deleted.  Of course I can change the expire_bounce task to take care of those cases but this might have an impact on our normal lists.

What have other people done to handle this situation? It would be ideal to specify the bounce expiration period on a list-by-list basis but it doesn’t seem like this is a possibility.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Pat
