No, Roger, it is not you who was missing something.  I made the mistaken 
assumption that any additional configuration parameters not specifically 
listed as an option must be added as a custom variable.  Changed the three 
lines to your suggestion below, and it works as expected.  Thanks for 
pointing that out!
