Hi,

I just upgraded from Sympa v5.2.4 to 6.0.1.

I saved copies of everything, ran ./configure; make; make install, then sympa.pl --upgrade - all seemed to work.
-- notes:
----- I discovered, along the way, that you now have to manually run /home/sympa/bin/sympa_wizard.pl --check (it doesn't seem to be invoked automatically anymore) - and I ran into a dependency loop, so I ended up manually installing Perl modules through CPAN - after which re-running the check gave an "OK"
----- the manual says to run "sympa.pl --upgrade" - which doesn't work (it's not on the search path)
----- the final lines in the make install script give the proper directions for both of the above

After all the dependencies were installed, /home/sympa/bin/sympa.pl --upgrade seemed to run to completion, and /etc/init.d/sympa start started everything up. List traffic seems to be flowing.

But....... trying to log in results in "error: wrong password."

After searching sympa.org a bit, I found the instructions to run:
/home/sympa/bin/sympa.pl –md5_encode_password

Stopped sympa, ran -md5_encode_password, restarted everything - but I STILL can't log in.

So... HELP!!!! Suggestions on diagnosis and recovery? I'm not quite ready to try to reload the database, or revert to the previous system.

Thanks!

Miles Fidelman
