Hi Kartik,

That' clearly a bug. There's no point checking the existence of the
owner parameter if there is an owner-include. I guess the trouble comes
from the way Sympa checks the configs : parameters are checked one by
one, so if a parameter is mandatory, a log is issued. We must introduce
dependencies between parameters, which would allow to use the equivalent
of the logical "or" : it is mandatory to define the parameter x OR the
parameter y.
also, we should not try to synchronise owners when they exist already.

I added a bug report regarding this issue:
https://sourcesup.cru.fr/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=6715&group_id=23&atid=167

We'll work on that but, as it represents a change in a cire
functionnality of Sympa, it won't be added to Sympa before the next beta
release.

David

Just a gut feeling, but maybe it helps just to add an owner entry in the
list config file.

I appreciate that that could be a temporary workaround if this is a
bug in Sympa, but I'm hoping to first characterize this issue
properly. The whole point in using owner_include is so that I *don't*
have to hardcode the email address of any owners manually in the
config file.

Maybe the parameter is mandatory but as long as it has
an owner from where ever (owner_include in this case) it could be fine.

I don't understand this sentence.

I found that having more load on logging (just increasing the log level)
decreases the Sympa (wwsympa) performance significantly.

Yes, that's my concern. I have log_level set to 0 and I'm still seeing
these messages. I'm hoping one of the Sympa developers can respond on
this.

Thanks,

-Kartik
