Hi,
I think 'shared docs' is a great feature of sympa in a university setting. I noticed I can add a description to files in expert mode, using the 'properties' link. That's great. However, this info is sort of hidden. I think it would be an extremely useful feature to let users to see the description while in user mode they are hovering the pointer over the name of the file (like tooltips work in many applications). Or am I missing something? The way it is, properties are not very useful, IMHO.
I have another note about color setup. I have looked at many sites using sympa (listed at http://www.sympa.org/users/custom). Most sites use the default color setup of sympa, that looks sort of dull (at least to me). There are also sites that changed the color setup, however, many of these use unappealing, harsh colors. I think all of us know, that sympa is usually set up by sysadmins, the types, who are interested in the actual _content_, and not so much in the looks. However, acceptance of a service depends very much on how it appeals to users. So to put is short: a few nice looking css color setups are really needed, I think. I spent an hour or so trying to modify the default setup, and I came up with something that is very far from perfect, but I can live with. Here it is:
