So I’m thinking I’ll just map the /home/sympa/arc folder to the ‘data’ volume and leave the rest on the OS volume. Is this how other people are doing it? Are there any recommendations for this kind of thing?Filling up 36GB with archives means you must have a lot of lists, list traffic, or both.
Since you're mirroring it, you might not have to do anything special. When you eventually run low on space, break the mirror, replace one of the 36GB drives with something larger, copy over the live data from the remaining 36GB drive, replace that with a new, larger drive as well, and recreate your mirror.
