Hi Peter,

I understand that don't want to use automatic tagging as it stands because you could have errors or it would oblige you to add this to a visible part of the message.

We could do is make Sympa recognize a X-Sympa-Topic SMTP header field (or something more standard if any) to tell Sympa what topic should be used. If sympa happen to find this header field it would skip the normal tagging process. Would this meet your needs ?

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to preset the topic tag on a posted
message ?
That is, can I force/suggest the use of a particular topic tag (or set of
tags) when I initially post a message to a list (that supports topic
tagging), rather than have to post the message and then wait for an email to
arrive, then browse to the provided a url and manually select the approriate
tags ?.

I dont think I can rely on automatic tagging to create the right set of topic tags, and I want to automate the email generation from a CMS that will email content to interested subscribers and definitely wont be able to deal with the email based authentication/tagging dialogue - it will use a digital signature to skip the extra email based authorisation steps.
It would be nice to allow pretagging from the web posting interface, but I
presume that this would be a new feature , and not something that I can
enable in the existing versions ...
