Could you provide some more informations :

Was the initial message encoded in utf-8 or iso-8859-1 ?
Did you see the initial message correctly in the web archives ?
What is your server language preference ? The list language preference ? Yours ?
What is the encoding used by your filesystem ?
Did you customize the default mhonarc-ressources.tt2 file ?
Can you send us a sample complete message ?
