So my "external" program must be able to read/write all of the .../ sympa/expl/<listname>/config files? :(

We also have a need to migrate old mailing list to Sympa. For that we can not use include files or LDAP groups.

Is there no way (using SOAP or the sympa.pl command line) to just add subscribers as if they were added via the web interface? (preserving the ability for the user or list owner to unsubscribe them)

Simply modify the list's "config" file:

http://sympa.org/doc/html/node16.html#SECTION001620000000000000000

"It is possible to change this file when the program is running. Changes are taken into account the next time the list is accessed."
