Micheal, I am glad you solved the problem!

I found that this was our problem (LDAP access control lists and

So, if you use FastCGI, make sure to not only restart Sympa but also
Apache ...
Well, that was one of my mistakes as well. However, this is not the major problem I experienced with my installation. Reading old posts on this and sympa-dev groups I managed to find some information which is not present in the manual. Still, several mysteries remain:
1) I can log in using LDAP authentication, but only when uid is provided. If an e-mail address is given the authentication fails. I was under the impression that it should work both ways.
2) include_ldap_query can apparently extract only one attribute (the e-mail address). Therefore, when I check the list of subscribers I can see only the e-mail addresses, but no names (no cn, no uid)!
3) The e-mails which were sent to the group and are stored in the archive, are not identified by the e-mail addresses of the senders, nor by their names extracted from LDAP directory (cn), but just by uid taken from the e-mail addresses (the part of an e-mail address in front of @ character).
The bottom line is: the user has to login with his LDAP uid, the list of subscribers shows just his e-mail address (but not the LDAP uid, nor the cn), and the e-mails in the archive are shown with yet another identifier. Quite confusing... I am sure there is a way to have it set-up properly, but I have not found any clues in the documentation.
On the top of that I've got two mysterious messages in the sympa log file:
Function available for lists in database mode only
It is not clear which function, though...
and another one:
task_manager[24784]: (use cache) Could not tie to DB_File /var/sympa/expl/my_list/subscribers.db
Any suggestions?
Bartek
