better than just a file name match would be a filetype match 
(output of "file" command) and/or a virus scan.  

Most of the relevant code for this could be taken from something
like amavisd-new.

note, there are three branches of amavis - the original amavis, the
original daemonization amavisd, and this amavisd-new.

Only amavisd-new is under current development.
