Hi Liam,

If you don't read the multipart digests properly, it's probably because your mail client is not good in displaying MIME (have a try with mozilla). But I don't pretend you should change your mail client ;-)

Because you are not the only one having problem with multipart digests, we have added support for plaintext digest in Sympa (the feature was added by Chris Hastie). The digest format is even customizeable (based on a template).

But you'll have to wait for the next release to come to have this feature....

I have a question regarding Sympa's digest format. Some of my users are not happy with it. Here is an example complaint:

I find [the list digest] extremely difficult to read. There are always extraneous characters thrown all over the place, such as "=20" for every soft return in some posts, duplicate and triplicate renditions of the same article in different format, and lack of a division line such as ********************* between entries in the digest form.
When yahoogroups does a digest is automatically numbers the entry, says whom it's from, throws a line between the different entries, and so forth. I don't understand why [the list] cannot become more reader friendly. Please try.

I would like to address these concerns. I've changed the format slightly already, adding "******" as a message separator. But what about the substitution of the "=20" for return characters?
What about a good way of dealing with multipart messages? Is there some way to enforce that messages are sent as plain text, or with a plain text part -- and then have the digest use the plain text only?

Any tips would be appreciated!
