The mailing list for listmasters using Sympa

I recently inherited a mialing list system which I configured, seemingly as 
the docs say.  I am set up as the editor in the <list>.conf file.  All seems 
to be working except when I try to post a message to send out, the listserv 
acts as if it needs a command by parsing the message??  Why? Help??
