With this behaviour, lots of users will subscribe to MLs with a
non-canonical address. If the ML is private they won't be able to send
messages and won't even be able to unsubscribe.

I don't think it's a good idea ; I'd rather suggest Sympa subscribe the
person with the address found in the confirmation's From:.
