Hi Soji,

According to your response, I know that giving an estimated delivery date is somewhat difficult since most sympa community members are working on it during their free time.

However does it mean that this feature is included in the roadmap ?

Best regards
Fred.

Hi soji,

Sounds good :)

But it raises more questions (sorry for that):

* Is there any chance to get it in a roadmap ? With an estimated ( ;) )
delivery date ?
I can't figure out. Delivery date may be dependent on your passion. :)

* From your point of view, do you have any idea how much time (in days,
full time) it would require for a non core sympa expert (but with dev
skills) ?
It's difficult to estimete man-hours to complete implementation.

However, I said we can modify a few things "and look what will
happen". Such things are:

* In lib/Sympa/Tools/Text.pm:
* sub canonic_email

* In lib/Sympa/Regexps.pm:
* regexp addrspec
* regexp email

That's all for the moment. I think you can begin immediately.
Then, would you please share your experiences among us?

Regards,

-- Soji

Thanks

Hi Soji,

Thanks for your reply.

Some of our users are facing some issues because they are not able to
register email addresses with non ASCII characters.

In my opinion, since the RFC 6330 (which is referenced by RFC6783) is
now more than five years old (February 2012), we can expect that those
kind of addresses will become more and more widely used (this feature is
now offered by most of email providers like gmail).

I think it is important to get this feature in the roadmap.

However looking at your analyze, it seems that you plan to address the
full scope (as defined by RFC6330).
I am far from an expert in that domain but I assume that this could be
split up in several milestones and one of them could be the support of
such email addresses.
I agree. My report is slightly idealist.

Do you have any idea how much work this single step would require ?
I guess we may start with users' e-mail: There are a few functions
and regexps to verify and canonicalize format of e-mail. We can
modify them and look what will happen.

Developers,

I have investigated this issue.

Is it worth adding this to Sympa 7/8?

Hello,

I have a very short question about the RFC6783 (Support of Non-ASCII
addresses).

This feature was planned to be included in the 7.0 (probably a long time
ago).

Could you give me an update on this:
* I did not find any 7.0 branch so I assume it has been canceled
* Is there any active/planned work on RFC6783 implementation ?

Thanks for your time
Best regards
