For lists from a particular family, I need to warn senders when a bounce occurs.

Anyone worked on this before ?

We were requested this feature in the past but it was not coded.
Currently the only use for bounces in Sympa is to maintain a bounce score and trigger unsubscription of list members that have a high score.

If you wish to keep track of the user associated to each bounce, then you should activate VERP in Sympa. VERP stands for "Variable Envelop Return Path" and consists in setting a more significant return-path for each message. It implies that you give up Sympa bulk-emailer. Here is the related documentation : http://www.sympa.org/doc/html/node24.html#SECTION002410000000000000000

Yes, VERP is the only way to be sure to recognize a bounce. Adding the list message sequence number in the VERP could be a way to identify the message incriminated by the bounce. The requested feature could be activated only if VERP is activated for 100% of subscribers.

I imagine that the distribution status page for each message that list each receipient that didn't receive the message could be activated from archives web page. The list owner or message sender may access to this page according to their privilege : (at least review privilege is required in order to access this page because this page show some of the list subscribers). If an alarm is needed, it may not be a good idea to send a notice to the message sender for each bounce message received : it may be too much. Most of the bounce occurs a few minutes after the message was sent, later bounces arrive 3 days later so a notification could be sent in that timetable.
