Hello, everybody,

is it possible at Sympa to write the Sympa log data into a pipe so that, for example, the IP addresses can be anonymised directly by an anonymisation tool (e.g. anonip) before the data ends up in a log file?

This would be the better way than regular anonymization of the existing log files.

How do you handle this in order to meet the requirements of the European General Data Protection Regulation?

And is it planned for the future that Sympa will anonymise the IP addresses in the log files directly if desired?

This could be regulated via a parameter in sympa.conf, so that the operators of a mailing list server in sympa.conf could define whether at least the IP addresses in the log data are anonymised?

Or should I open an issue for an enhancement in GitHub?

Best regards and thank your very much for any hints,

Sabine Lorenz
