Postfix default message size limit is 10240000

I have to add an new line in the main.cf

message_size_limit = 52428800

It doesn't work right away. You still have to extend the mailbox_size_limit (default 51200000)

Message_size_limit must not be higher than mailbox_size_limit.

 

We are running PostgreSQL without an max_allowd_packet parameter.

Now it works fine.

did you also increase the value for the maximum message size in your mail transfer agent (MTA) and in the database?

 

In exim, for example, you must adjust the value of the parameter MESSAGE_SIZE_LIMIT.

In Mysql or MariaDB, the value for the parameter max_allowd_packet must be increased accordingly.

 

If you didn’t that could be the reason for the mistake.

Hello there,

 

I have a problem sending attachments larger than 9 MByte to a sympa list.

List configuration and sympa.conf are configured to max 50 MByte.

 

Error Mesage:

Your message wasn't delivered to anyone because it's too large. The limit is 9 MB. Your message is 19 MB.

lists.xyz.com gave this error:

SMTPSEND.OverAdvertisedSize; message size exceeds fixed maximum size

 

Config:

Binary Distribution  - sympa-6.2.32-1.20180419.RHEL7.x86_64

CentOS Linux release 7.5.1804 (Core)

postfix-2.10.1-6.el7.x86_64 (CentOS package)

 

Maximum Message Size - 52428800 (List config)

sympa.conf max_size 52428800

 

Any idea?
